Meredydd Luff

I am a software developer, researcher, recreational pilot and consumer of tea, living in Cambridge. (The one on the Cam, not the one on the Charles.)

I am the CEO and co-founder of Anvil, a web-based programming environment that makes it easy to build web apps with nothing but Python. Most of my recent writing is on the Anvil blog.

From 2013, I consulted for MQA, playing a leading role in the creation of a much better way to deliver and listen to music.

In 2012 I completed my PhD at the Cambridge University Computer Laboratory. (My thesis is available here). I worked in the Computer Architecture group, but my undergraduate degree was in Natural Sciences, specialising in neuroscience. My research has included concurrency, the usability of programming languages, and computer-assisted music practice.

From 2004 to 2013, I was the lead developer for Greetings Unlimited Inc, a mobile services provider based in the Philippines. Call it reverse outsourcing. I built and maintained Sun iMessenger, one of the most successful services on the Sun Cellular network.
